Vertical relations in Muscat¶
In Muscat Sources¶
In our existing Invenio systems, the vertical relation we use the most is journal articles to journals, and the Marc tag we mostly use to indicate the parent record is 773. However, in Muscat Sources, the 773 is mostly used to indicate that a work belongs to a manuscript that gathers more works, that is, a composite volume. By the way, that is what in Muscat they call a collection. This composite volume or collection has explicit relations with the component parts via 774, for example:

This relation is not only based in Marc21 tables, but also in the software itself. For example, as it is now in Muscat, trying to batch import records with our rich 773 tags ($g, $t and $x at a minimum) gives warnings or errors stating that the parent record id (in $w) is not declared.
In Muscat Publications¶
Instead, in the other bibliographic type, Publications, the relation to the parent record is stored in 760. The subfields are very similar:

The examples are extracted from the whole RISM catalog (https://opac.rism.info/main-menu-/kachelmenu/data, catalogues records); I haven't seen them in any open Muscat instance. However, there is logic in Muscat to handle the 760 vertical relations, for example: https://github.com/rism-ch/muscat/blob/develop/app/models/catalogue.rb#L160.
